Welcome to #CookBlogShare Week 16
This week I’m excited to be playing host for #CookBlogShare Week 16 2021. It’s the first time hosting one of my favourite weekly recipe link-up parties… Where amazing food bloggers share their recipes. But first, thank you to the lovely Sew White for hosting week 15 and for her deliciously tempting Spring Desserts Round Up.
The weather is beginning to warm and the UK is starting to open up a little after lockdown. And with that, hopefully there are more social times ahead. Whether in the garden or (eventually) inside, we can hopefully look forward to seeing friends and family. There’s a lot of catching up to be done on the year that wasn’t.
After such a long time, it would be lovely to make those first gatherings that little bit extra special. So, the round up this week features my favourite picks from last week’s link-up, suitable for a perfect gluten free lunch or coffee date… Lovely food we can share with the friends we have been waiting to see.

Gluten free picks for the brunch date…
Eggs Benedict are always a classic for brunch with friends and Carrie’s Kitchen has you covered on this one… Muffins topped with bacon, poached egg and a sumptuous drizzle of Hollandaise sauce. If you can’t find decent gluten free muffins, simply sub with one of my delicious Wholemeal Artisan Gluten Free Rolls. Perfect!
Another treat that’s perfect for brunch comes from Choclette over at Tin and Thyme with these easy toasted Peanut Butter, Banana and Chocolate Wraps. Not only do they sound utterly delicious, but lots of fun too. And Perfect for keeping the kiddies happy while you chat. Just use gluten free wraps and sub the fillings as you prefer… Sweet or savoury!
Or how about these yummy Grilled Corn and Black Bean Tacos from The Family Food Kitchen? They are packed with beans, corn and feta and look so inviting and delicious. Be sure to choose gluten free tortillas if you need to… like the Old El Paso ones, or make my super-easy Gluten Free Roti Flatbreads which would work perfectly as a base for the filling.
Gluten free picks for a light lunch in the garden…
Looking for something a little more substantial, but still light enough for lunch in the garden? I love the sound of this recipe for Simple Fish Cakes without Potato from Sheeba at Go Healthy Ever After. Made without wheat, the recipe uses a simple sub for the usual potatoes, breadcrumbs and flour… Oatmeal! Just make sure your oats are gluten free if you are Coeliac. Don’t they look amazing?
Or perhaps a vibrant bowl of Tuscan Bean Stew from The Veg Space? I could dive right in. And what could be more comforting than wrapping hands around a warm bowl of this beauty in a chilly garden, while snuggled with fluffy blankets catching up? Perfect served with a slice of freshly-baked Vegan Gluten Free Wholemeal, or a chunk of crusty gluten free Baguette.
The Sweet Stuff… Gluten free treats for a coffee morning or afternoon tea…
If a coffee morning or afternoon tea is the gathering of choice, how about some Old Fashioned Almond Rice Cakes from Karen at Lavender & Lovage? I love that this recipe (which dates back to a 1911 cook book) uses ground rice, giving it a ‘firm but crumbly crumb’. A novelty for those not gluten free… And with a simple sub of gluten free flour (my GFA Blend A would work well) for the extra wheat flour in the recipe, this would be a super-quick bake, perfect for sharing with friends over coffee.
I was definitely taken too, with the magic of this Lemon and Honey Taffy recipe from Cocoa and Heart. And let’s be honest… Who doesn’t love a homemade sweet? Especially one rich with honey and lemon. How about making some to chomp while you chat… Or as a special ‘lovely to see you’ foodie gift?
I’m also a sucker for a perfectly smooth, tangy curd and The Baking Explorer’s Homemade Lemon Curd looks up there with the best. Perfect with a cuppa on a nice piece of wholemeal gluten free toast…. Or slathered on homemade gluten free Almond Shortbread for al fresco afternoon tea.
And last but not least… if you really want to push the boat out for that post-lockdown tea-date, why not seriously impress with this gorgeous Cheesecake with Blackberry Lavender Swirl from the Copper Table. I would certainly be happy if this was served in the garden… Simply sub the crackers and sugar for some gluten free digestives or try this gluten free cheesecake base instead.
